In an era when music seems increasingly liquid and dematerialized, there are still sound craftsmen who believe in the physicality of making music, in building spaces where art can take root. Fabio D’Amore is one of them. His story is a journey across geographical and linguistic borders, never losing sight of the essence: music as a universal language, capable of uniting people, cultures, and different visions.
Originally from San Vito al Tagliamento, in Friuli, Fabio started playing at the age of four. His musical education is a path that took him from piano to guitar, up to electric bass, which would become his main instrument. Raised in local Friulian bands, at fourteen he discovered his passion for progressive, a genre that would deeply influence his approach to music. In 2004 he joined Pathosray, a Friulian progressive metal band with whom he recorded two international albums. His experience with Pathosray served as a springboard for a career that would become increasingly international.

The definitive leap came with his entry into Serenity, an Austrian symphonic power metal band. With them, Fabio moved to Austria and began a new chapter in his life. It was not just a change of residence, but a professional transformation. From Pathosray to Serenity, Fabio evolved from bassist to a multifaceted figure: singer, producer, sound engineer. Austria became not only his home but also the place where his artistic vision could expand without boundaries.
It is here, in the suggestive setting of the Ötztal valley, among the Austrian Alps, that Fabio D’Amore created Synonym of Sound. More than just a recording studio, it is a “home for your music, a world for your career”. With over 160 square meters of acoustically treated spaces, isolated recording booths, and a control room with state-of-the-art equipment, the studio is designed to offer a professional environment without sacrificing the warmth of a familiar place. A space designed exclusively by artists for artists, where comfort is an absolute priority.
But Synonym of Sound is much more than a physical structure. It’s a creative ecosystem, a multidisciplinary team that accompanies the artist at every stage of the journey: from writing to pre-production, from recording to mixing and mastering. The team also offers career guidance and artist mentoring, drawing on Fabio’s twenty years of experience in the music industry. Together with Katja D’Amore, he has built a reality that doesn’t just record sounds but helps artists define their identity, navigate the labyrinth of the music industry, and develop a strategic vision for their career.
Fabio’s attention to the human side of production is also evident in the projects he oversees. One of the latest works produced at Synonym of Sound is the debut of RAKINUA, a dark folk/progressive project that blends the ritual atmospheres of Heilung and Wardruna with the progressive depth of Opeth and Porcupine Tree. Produced by Fabio D’Amore, the album “Esi Um Ninu – Heal Us, Mother” explores the theme of ancient Alpine sacrifices, combining archaeological research, aesthetic sensibility, and the evocative power of a forgotten language. The choice of such a richly suggestive and meaningful project says a lot about his approach: he doesn’t chase standardized production, but seeks stories to tell and atmospheres to create.

During the interview with BrioMediaGroup, Fabio explained that Synonym of Sound was born precisely to fill a void: to offer artists a comprehensive point of reference, where they can not only record but also grow, exchange ideas, and find the right connections. He spoke about the difference between Italy and Austria, emphasizing how in Austria there is greater attention to organization and work planning, an approach he has learned to appreciate and tries to bring into every project. He also mentioned his dual nature: musician and producer, two souls that coexist and feed off each other.
The full video interview is available on the BrioMediaGroup YouTube channel. Fabio D’Amore represents a model of a contemporary artist who refuses to be confined to a single definition. He is a musician who plays, a producer who listens, an entrepreneur who creates spaces and opportunities. His story teaches that borders, whether geographical or artistic, can become bridges if one has the courage to cross them. From Friuli to the Alps, passing through progressive and symphonic metal up to more experimental production, Fabio D’Amore has built a career that is a bridge between worlds. And Synonym of Sound is the home from which that bridge departs.
