Ten years. That’s no small feat for a festival that has stayed true to itself, refusing to bow to market logic, never charging an entrance fee, never chasing trends. Serravalle Rock turns ten and celebrates with three evenings of live music, an exclusive compilation, and a location that is already a statement in itself: the Rocca di Castruccio in Serravalle Pistoiese. From July 31 to August 2, rock will once again echo through the medieval walls, with a lineup that mixes international exclusives and established names from the Italian independent scene.
Friday, July 31 opens with The Loyal Cheaters, an Italo-German trio blending punk, glam, and hard rock with overwhelming energy. Following them, the most anticipated exclusive: the Virgin Orchestra, an Icelandic post-punk trio performing for the first time in Italy with a unique date. Their music, between hypnotic synths, cinematic strings, and melancholic pop, is a journey into another dimension. Closing the evening, Small Jackets, a band that has made rock’n’roll its reason for living and returns to the festival for the third time.
Saturday, August 1 features the action rock of To The Max!, a Verona-based trio fresh from their second album “Two The Max!” on Go Down Records. Then, the psychedelic journey of Ananda Mida, one of the most powerful stoner and psych-rock acts on the international scene, with a sound drawing from the Seventies and desert grooves.
Sunday, August 2 the grand finale is entrusted to The Elephant Man, a supergroup led by Max Zanotti (Casablanca, Deasonika) with a powerful and introspective dark rock. Opening the evening, Nuovo Disordine Mondiale, a Roman band blending rock and electronics with substantial lyrics.
The SRX compilation
To celebrate the tenth edition, the festival has created the SRX compilation, the seventh volume of the collection that accompanies the event every year. A record that is a snapshot of the Italian independent scene, featuring tracks by Virgin Orchestra, The Elephant Man, Nuovo Disordine Mondiale, Small Jackets, Ananda Mida, To The Max!, and singles by Andrea Chimenti, Alteria, Bluagata, Le Pietre dei Giganti and many more. A selection spanning rock, post-punk, stoner and singer-songwriter, with contributions from labels like Vrec and Go Down Records.
The compilation will be distributed for free during the three festival evenings. For those unable to attend, it’s possible to request a free copy (until August 3) on the Vrec website, with only shipping costs to pay.
The festival is free and open to all, with food stands on site. An opportunity to experience rock in a place that smells of history, supporting quality music. For those who want to explore the Vrec catalogue, promotions include -26% on CDs and LPs with the code SALDI26 and the Mystery Box with 25 CDs for 50€ or 15 LPs for 90€. But the real gift is the music, playing live among the stones of the fortress, for three nights that promise to be unforgettable.
